Welcome to Ankle Deep where we design and build rods for fisherman.  We specialize in Inshore Rods for Trout, Reds, and Snook.  On our rod page you will find 3 models in various lengths that have become favorites of ours along with fellow fisherman along the Texas Coast.  If you choose to go with one of these rods, you have the choice of Thread color, Grips, and inscription for that special someone.  We realize that a standard  "off the rack" rod may not be what your looking for, we can handle that as well.  We also custom build a rod that you can call your very own, from Custom Grips and Reel Seats, decorative thread wraps, and spiral wrapped micro rods, the options are unlimited.

What sets a custom fishing rod apart from a store bought fishing rod?  Production fishing rods are built on a assembly line with little care and effort towards finding the spine and proper guide placement.  With custom rods components are put together piece by piece properly placed, proper time and applications of all epoxies and finishes.  Time is taken to properly spine or the "backbone" of a blank, and a "static load test" is performed before guides are wrapped and finished.  Every blank is different when it comes to its backbone/spine, by taking the time to locate at properly place the guides, the rod will not have a tendency to roll in your hands.

Once you have used a custom rod in your hands, you will notice a difference in its casting distance and fish fighting capability over a store bought rod.   A rod needs to function properly as well as look good.

  I have been a avid Saltwater Fisherman the past 10 years, before that I was a competitive Bass Fisherman.  I am very tough on my tackle and no what I need out of my fishing tools.  As such I designed a line of rods for the discriminating wade fisherman and women, lightweight, sensitive, tough enough to stop a freight training red, yet sensitive enough to detect the lightest of trout bites.
